Jewelry Care & Maintenance
How Do I Take Care Of My Jewelry?
- Avoid contact with chemical products that can cause discoloration and damage to gemstones, such as perfume, cosmetics, lotion, sunscreen, hair dye, and so on.
- Keep away from moisture, like swimming, bathing or exercising which can cause tarnishing or discoloration. Avoid contact with hot springs and swimming pools that containing disinfectants, as well as saltwater.
- It's usually recommended to remove jewelry before bedtime, especially the metal jewelry. The body's temperature and sweat, as well as residues from cosmetics, can cause varying degrees of corrosion on metal, leading to the growth of bacteria and rust, which can have an impact on the skin.
- Store in a sealed bag or box. When not wearing it, you can lightly wipe the surface with a silver polishing cloth to remove moisture and dirt, then place it in a sealed bag or box to isolate it from air to prevent the oxidation.
- If pearls are placed in a sealed jewelry box for a long time, they can also become discolored. Therefore, for pearls that aren't worn regularly, it's important not to keep them in a sealed environment. Pearls require fresh air, so wear them outside occasionally to allow them to breathe. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight during the peak hours. If not to wear, place them in a well-ventilated area where they can receive some sunlight instead.
